The form for the porcelain Vase of Vases by Maxim Velčovský originated by casting the space created by several essential vases of the past. It is thus a collection of vases in a single shape, and thanks to them, it looks different from every viewing angle. And it holds one more message: “What we devise is only possible due to the experiences of the generations before us. We in fact do not do anything but repeat the same thing in another context; the context of technology, time, and place. It is fascinating to watch how strongly context determines design,” Maxim Velčovský says. The vases come in two versions, which vary in shape, size and the number of the cited vases, each in the limited series of 50 pieces. They are part of both private and museum collections worldwide, including the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris and the Moravian Gallery in Brno. This piece is the the larger one of the two versions.
